A Special Congregational Meeting will be held next Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., to consider the candidacy of the Minister of Word & Sacrament for MCPC English Service. The Session has decided to invite Rev. Paul Johnston to preach for the call during English worship at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is welcomed to be present at the preach for the call.

All professing members are to attend the Special Congregational Meeting at1:00 p.m. to be held at the Sanctuary of MCPC, to determine if the call is to be extended. Those in favour of extending the call will also be asked to sign the call papers in support of the candidate. Where a member cannot be present at the special congregational meeting, the member may wish to sign the call papers by proxy through a Session Elder. This arrangement is in place in order that the opinions of as many members as possible are considered.

Please pray for the English Minister candidate, the Preach for the Call, the Special Congregation Meeting, and that God’s plan will prevail.

About Pastor Johnston

Pastor Paul Johnston comes to us with a wealth of Presbyterian Church Experience. He has served as a pastor in several Presbyterian churches in the United States for over 10 years before moving back to Canada where he served as the pastor of Knox Presbyterian Church in Bobcaygeon, Ontario for the last 10 years. During these years he has served as the Moderator of the Linsay-Peterborough Presbytery, a member of the Presbyterian Church in  anada’s Committee on Church Doctrine, and as a Commissioner in the General Assembly.

Pastor Paul is somewhat familiar with the Toronto/Markham area as he grew up and spent his high school years in the neighborhood of Agincourt. He had his undergraduate education in Northwestern University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Journalism. After working as a journalist/writer for several years, he felt there is no better way to tell the world about the truth than sharing with them the Good News of Jesus Christ. Thus he spent the next 5 years studying in Trinity Evangelical Divinity School where he received his Master of Religious Education and in McCormick Theological Seminary where he received his Master of Divinity. He was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1989.

Pastor Paul is married and has a son who is entering grade 11. His ministry focus is to help people see how Jesus Christ meets our real longings and desires. His preaching approach is to tell an unchanging story with a fresh presentation.

保羅●約翰斯頓 牧師 (Rev. Paul Johnston)是一位有豐富長老教會經驗的牧者。他有十多年在美國 不同的長老教會牧會的經驗。他回到加拿大之後,他擔任在Bobcaygeon諾士長老教會的牧師已 經有十年了。同時,他擔任Lindsay-Peterborough區會會長,也是加拿大長老總會教義委員會的成 員之一及週年大會的成員。

保羅牧師也熟悉多倫多/萬錦市,因為他在Agincourt長大及讀中學。他在美國西北大學 (Northwestern University) 供讀新聞系獲得科學學士學位。保羅牧師成為一個記者/作家數年後,他 覺得只有與人分享耶穌基督的福音才能向世界宣告生命的真理。因此,他進入三一福音神學院 (Trinity Evangelical Divinity School) 就讀五年的宗教教育碩士學位 (Master of Religious Education), 跟 著他又進入麥考密克神學院 (McCormick Theological Seminary) 在那裡他獲得了神學碩士學位。在 一九八九年他被按立成為長老會牧師。

保羅牧師已婚,他們有一位就讀十一班的兒子。他的事工焦點是幫助人們看到耶穌如何滿足我 們真正的渴望和期望。他的說教的方式是用新鮮及現代的演譯方法去宣講一個不變的故事。
